Hi there. I assume you mean 54 degrees, right?

I did a race last fall with a bunch of ladies, and there were several first timers. Since many of them weren't sure if they really wanted to spend the cash for a wetsuit, they rented them. Some did it through a local shop, and others went through wetsuitrental.com. Some suits were a little beat up, but they all did the trick.

You probably already know this, but do make sure you practice in the wetsuit before your race. It's pretty common to feel like you can't breathe the first time you swim in it. You just need to get used to it!

Good luck!

You really MUST try them on. A wetsuit is a big investment, so go to a shop where someone can help you get the right size and style. There's really no point in paying $190 for a wetsuit that's not quite right vs. $210 for one that's perfect.

Many running specialty shops will carry wetsuits. PLEASE: Do not be penny-wise and pound foolish. Pay a few extra bucks to get knowledgeable, personal advice. It's just too much money to go into it blind.

I bought a X2U C:2 last spring after trying one on. I wasn't sure I'd want a full-sleeve suit, but it fits like a glove. Feels like butter compared to the old, sleeveless Ironman I rented the year before.

if you have bad posture when you're running, then there's a chance you might hurt your back. the main muscles in running are your hamstrings, calfs, and quads (thigh). so stretch b4 u run!

it wont hurt your back. just make sure you have a good pair of shoes. i would recomend a lightweight mesh shoe. also, if you are worried about hurting your back, make sure that you are warming up and stretching properly before you work out. do a cool down and stretch afterwards also. running on a softer surface like grass or a turf track is better on your back. running will actually help with strengthning your core muscles to prevent back problems. i used to get stress fractures from running on the basketball court. it happened 2 seasons in a row, so i picked up xc. it helped with EVERYTHING. endurance, got me in shape, and i havnt had a back problem since i started. there is way more benifits to running then you can think of. its the best thing for you. i can tell you that your step-mom is full of crap.

ok that is the most dumbest thing i have ever heard omg seriously EVERYTHING has a positive effect and a negative effect no matter what you do. Tell you step-mom that when she walks it makes her cartilage in her knees break down slowly but its a negative effect who knows mabe she'll stop walking. lol anyway running does MORE good than bad so run if you want, if you dont you dont have too. running wont hurt your back if you have good posture while you run so good luck

Running does not harm your back or other joints.
It can cause back problems because you use your back when you are standing or walking, and the back muscles become much stronger than the abdominal muscles.
Running is good exercise, and does not cause bad backs.

If you don't have good shoes, your back, knees, and ankles can start to hurt. But as long as you stretch and don't over do it, the good effects of running definitely outweigh the bad.

that looks like a good list. pasta is the thing that will help you the most because it give you complex carbohydrates which give you extra energy to be able to last longer in runs and not to get tiered as easily. also drink lots of water and stay away from carbonated drinks which lower the oxygen supply to your blood. good luck
