Is there a good substitute to running 10 miles?

I know running can be a great way to lose weight and get ripped, but is there a good substitute to running 10 miles? For instance, what if I ran five miles, swam a little bit (I’m not a good swimmer, so not very much,) rode my bike for a while, and played basketball? I would do these all within a short period of time. What would be good distances for each sport to get similar results to running 10 miles?

Swim laps
Walk 10 miles…
They say that exercise is 50% mental.
So why not THINK about running 20 miles? Should work!
Swimming is the best. It works your entire body. But, you could do that combination if you wanted. Run the 5 miles, do a little basketball, and then the bike. Then since you aren’t the best at swimming do that last, use it as a cool down. That order would probably be best, since the basketball would give you a tiny break between running and biking.
check this link – X training is good – too much running is bad for the knees, etc. mix it up -

Long runs (2+ hours) are, frankly, very boring. And the first few times your knees/ankles/hips will ache, a lot.
Getting ripped requires intensity, not duration. I've run done bodybuilding (hours in the gym), competitive power lifting (more hours in the gym), and run 3:30 marathons (many, many hours of training) , but suprisingly the best results I ever got in terms of quickly getting results came from doing the… Power 90 BeachBody DVDs.
Yes, those DVDs you see on late night TV really do work. Buy the DVDs on EBay for $10-20, a set of dumbells/elastics for $20, then do the simple 30-minute workouts for 30 days and you'll be pleasantly suprised.
