Safety should be a concern, and your parents are correct, early morning or late evening runs should not be done on your own. I am assuming your parents do not run, you could approach one of them and ask if they were willing to run with you. Certainly that would not only help you, but you are helping your parents.

How about after school with a few friends, suggest to a couple of friends that you want to start running and would they come to your house for 20 – 30 minutes of running after school. Another alternative would be to run on your lunch break at school, if your school has a track, go for a 20 – 30 minute run then have your lunch.

Join the local YMCA/YWCA and see if they have a run club. May Y’s have routes and people who run, you could even consider just jumping on a treadmill. Hopefully one of these suggestions helps you.

    Good luck

ev1 looks at you and that is why you won’t run???
Ignore them. Plain and simple. When people stare at me unless they really bother me I ignore it.

Why can’t you go early in the morning? Your parents must be strict

use a treadmill, or elliptical, buy one or go to the gym

Running actually beats the heck out of your knees, we were not built for a lot of it. The machines give MUCH less impact

I have a bad knee from all the jogging I did years back. My sister runs about 10 miles a day and has all sorts of hip-bone splints from it.

And your parents are wise, stay safe.

get one of your buddies who is able to do that, talk to your parents about it, come up with a plan and go over it with your parents and tell them the pros and cons and ways of fixing the cons.

Run in your room or a basement, try to find a place where no one is.

You should go with a buddy, preferably a big guy. Never know what type of horny guys are out there.

run on your school’s track. and yes find a running buddy if possible. I’m in high school and a lot of people look at us (the girls), honk at us, scream things at us, and simple just stare. but most of them see it as a good think that we are taking a healthy life and decide to be healthy.

but never underestimate those perverts out there. these guys tried to take my friend, but luckily a guy from the team was there and helped.
