What kind of shoes do you wear for running on snowy mountain trails?

I will be moving to the mountains for college in the fall, and I will be running cross country. I’ve never really experienced running in the snow, but I am assured that there will be lots of that to go around during the cross country season. What kind of training shoes/ spikes should I wear in the snow?

I’ve never run on mountain trails but I’ve run in really bad snow conditions. I usually just run in my running shoes (that I use in during the warmer seasons) and run slower with thicker socks. I did see some New Balance and Saucony running spikes. Not too sure if you would feel comfortable running in those.

ones with feety warmers in it:)
Ok I don’t deal with mountain trails but I do run on the snowy roads and at times in about 4 ft of snow and with that ice —I just wear my regular shoes that I wear for the other three seasons.
I would assume that whatever shoes you are wearing now would work on mountain trails. I know I don’t worry about shoes when it snows during the winter here. If I were you I would focus more on being able to breathe in a high altitude area, which can be really tough.
