CROSS-TRAINING/INJURY ADVICE PLEASE?

Okay so I was just diagnosed with a pelvic stress fracture. I probably won’t be running for at least two months. This is very, very bad because I NEED to stay in shape so that as soon as I return to cross country I won’t be too far behind before our big meets. I really, really need some good cardio workouts that don’t involve running. Swimming is the only thing I can think of, but is that enough? I’m also not supposed to bike. I am on crutches, so walking is also not an option. PLEASE give me some good cross-training advice that will keep me in shape for two months!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel really bad for you, nothing can really replace running, but there are some options. Swimming is obviously the best. Some kind of rowing exercise, on a rowing ergometer or something like that, would be a great cardio workout, but I’m not sure if that might also hurt your pelvis a bit. Don’t neglect your strength training and as soon as you’re able start walking and being active as much as you can.
Also some gyms may have some seated aerobics programs or something for people with injuries or disabilities so you may check that out too.
