start out with slow and short distances
to prevent shin splints
like maybe jog a mile for a week and a half, then two for another week, &so on
my cross country team the newcomers &freshmen start out with 3miles, so you really need to work up to it, because a lot of them are injured
you should probably run 3-5 miles a day at least, depending on the length of your races
You should put together a routine schedule for yourself. Like running 5 miles a day during different hours. Try not to eat to many sweet desserts, it helps not to. From all of the sports you do, it shouldn’t be that hard. Good luck in cross country!
what grade are you in? generally people run lots of long slow distance leading up to XC season, including myself. it also depends on how serious you want to take it and how busy you are. but as a general guideline, should be running in upwards of 25 minutes at least 4 of 7 days each week.
