I live in Texas, so the winters aren’t really that bad. However, I tend to sweat very much while running, so wearing a cotton shirt does not work for me. I’m soaked after 15 minutes and then just freezing cold when I finish my run. What type of gear will help for this? Also, anything light that you could recommend on windy days?

Brain Cross-Training…how many hours to get real benefit?
Fortune magazine had a recent feature about cross-training your brain…but every example they gave involved the cross-training in childhood…particularly in music. So my question is…how much cross training would I need to do as an adult to get real benefit? Would 15 minutes a day help?…and how much help?…1%? 10%? What is the real-world cross benefit to mental cross training.

I have been running for a few years and as most of you know, it is a very high maintenance sport. There are always little pains here and there that are usually tolerable but this is a new problem. I took a 2 month break and am trying to get back in the swing of things. Before I hit 1 mile I feel really tense in my ankle and shin area. I think it would help if I rotated and stretched my ankles for 15 minutes a day. Was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

I’m running a half marathon next month in December here in Texas. Typically, the weather then is anywhere from 40 – 50 degrees.
What type of running clothing should I have for a winter half marathon? I tend to warm up after about 15 minutes running, so don’t want too much clothing. Any advice?

Can running an hour a day make the groin muscles more elastic and warm as a long term effect. I really want to do the front and side splits, and i think that running will help me do it. i know i need to stretch everyday too. So do you think that running an hour a morning, stretching 15 minutes a day, and then working on martial arts kicks on the punching bag for 1-2 hours a day will help me with the splits?
