Cross country training questions…?

Hey, I’m a freshman in high school and finished my first season running XC in November. I took about a month off of running because my doctor told me I was at high risk for stress fractures, and then I started softball training. However, softball training at my school involves very little running, and I really want to start working NOW to get my times down for next fall’s cross country season. I have about 6 months until summer workouts with the team begin, and 8 months until competition.
Is it possible to knock off 3 or 4 minutes off my 5K time? Can anyone tell me how much I should increase my mileage each week if this week I am starting with 2.75 miles a day? Can anyone give me advice on eating, cross training, mile plans? Thanks so much!

I’m 13 and I have a 5:54 1500 meter run. I want to go to the Olympics when i am older but I don’t know what kind of training I should be doing to make my dreams of running in the Olympic 1500. So if there is anybody out there who could tell me what I should basically be doing that would be great. Thanks in advanced. I am also going into my 2nd cross country season so I am running about 6-8 miles everyday.

I’m really getting into barefoot running and am planning to train over the summer for a spring cross country season. I have been running under a mile 5 days a week really slowly and am feeling improvements already. I want to know what some good exercises are for strengthening muscles that will increase my running skill.
How do you stop painful legs while running in a race?

During all of my races and the entire cross-country season, my upper body and my lungs have improved dramtically while running and it is very easy for me to breathe. But my problem is, my legs get painful and are hurting badly during the race. If I can just get my legs not be so painful, I would be a dominant runner and nobody would fuck with me. How can I stop my legs from being so painful while running. Is biking or weight lifting a good idea?

I will be moving to the mountains for college in the fall, and I will be running cross country. I’ve never really experienced running in the snow, but I am assured that there will be lots of that to go around during the cross country season. What kind of training shoes/ spikes should I wear in the snow?

My first cross country season just ended and I’m wondering if I should take an easy week or two (21- 35 m/w) or jump right back into hard runs to train for next year and keep in shape. I have a paranoia that if I go a week or two running 3 miles per day or less then i feel like I am going to get fat or run slower (Yes, I used to have an eating disorder.) I’m 5’3", 115-20lbs, 10% body fat, 24" waist… Do you think I have to worry bout gaining weight?? I ran a 5k in 22-23 minutes average and I can run a 7min mile…Do you think I have to worry about slowing down??? I also do Karate twice a week and 7-10 mile runs on sundays. Sorry for sounding paranoid… thanks

I’ve been training and running serveral miles over the summer, about five miles a day there for two months. I am now stuck inside before of freezing tempatures. I hate hate HATE being out of shape. And I need some good running muscle strenthging exercises that I can do over the winter so I can increase my speed next cross country season. I know I will have to get my lungs in shape again, but that nothing to hard to do.
