Cross training for Cross Country?

I am trying to figure out my training plan for cross country next season. I’m a frosh boy and my pr is 19:07. I want to get to 17:40′s for most of next season. I was thinking about 50 miles of running and about 100 miles of biking each weak. Will this be a good plan or will biking work the wrong muscles for running. Either this or more running and less biking.
Yeah i am not just gonna do easy slow runs to get the mileage up. in the 50 i am counting speed days and stuff. And where i live i can’t run a mile without hitting a hill. On my normal routes there are mile long hills with 10% grades. (where i do my speedwork)
What should I do as cross-training for running? (more details below)?

I’m a sophomore in high school. I ran winter and spring track freshman year. I didn’t do cross country (long story), but I’ve been training since the beginning of August.
Winter track started Monday.
My left leg is okay, but I have a shin splint and strained hamstring in my right leg. I know what to do for my shin splint and hamstring, but the athletic trainer said I should cross-train over the weekend.
I know swimming and biking are really common cross-training activities for running. I can’t ride a bike. I might be able to get to an indoor pool, but if I can’t get to a pool, what should I do tomorrow as cross-training?

this summer i really want to get in shape and become a better runner. i currently run a 6:10mile in track and in the fall i am doing cross country. i am also playing field hockey. we have field hockey conditioning for 4hrs every day where we do running/agility stuff for one hour, play indoor hockey, weight train, and do a video workout. i want to do xc too but conditioning is the same time
should i run by myself in the evenings?? i am afraid of overtraining and actually hurting my times. i cant really run outside during the day from 12-5 because it is super hot and sunny. i was also gonna do yoga and swimming for cross training. any suggestions on how to improve my xc times w/o overtraining? thanks!
Can I do weight cross training followed by long distance running on the same day?

I have a cross training program that involves some weight. But mostly push-ups, pull-ups, and curls (bicep, tricep) and shoulder presses.
Can I perform these cross-training weight workout (about an hour long) then do a distance run (starting at 1 mile, then increasing by .5 miles a week until I’m doing 4-5 miles).
If you care, the cross training weight workouts are the P90X workouts (I love them).
My main reason to do this is to prepare for Cross Country while KEEPING (NOT BUILDING) my muscles.
Thanks.
Can burst training and cross country running work together to lose weight/gain muscle?

I had heard that after you do burst training that the day after is a rest day and if you exercise much it can actually go against your weight loss/muscle gain. I’m going to be starting cross-country practice soon and will be running 5 days a week and was wondering if adding a burst training routine in the mornings would be beneficial. Along with cross-country practice and burst training I will be weightlifting also, if that makes any difference. Thanks!

Im planning on running cross country this year and want to know a goal that I should reach before the team starts practice so I I’m not the last one.
Is it better to take a day off from running or do some cross training that day? Do i need a full day of rest?

I do cross country and every week i take sundays off. Should i be doing some cross training on this day? Or would a full day of rest be best so i can recover properly? Also, if i am supposed to cross train what are some good things to do that won’t tire me out the next day?
