The fleet-footed Don ran away from the competition over the final stages of the race to claim the fifth world cup win of his career. In second position, only six seconds behind, Athens Olympic silver medalist Bevan Docherty of New Zealand out-sprinted Germany’s Jan Frodeno in a photo finish result.

pain’s Javier Gomez opened his 2008 world cup season with a satisfying victory in Mooloolaba, finishing well ahead of last year’s winner Brad Kahlefeldt. The 2006 world champion Tim Don made it back to the world cup podium, edging out Kiwi Bevan Docherty for the bronze.

The bid for history was again derailed by three-time world champion Emma Snowsill who today won the BG Triathlon World Cup season opener in Mooloolaba. In the first head-to-head battle between Snowsill and rival Vanessa Fernandes, it was the home favorite who triumphed.

Frances Cedric Fleureton took home the gold in the Lorient BG Triathlon World Cup. Fleuretons winning time of 1 hour 49 minutes 53 seconds was the result of a well-executed game plan by the French team which rendered two French medals.
