CROSS TRAINING AND FLOW?

I have studied several fighting arts
Wrestling 5 seasons (jr High and HS)
Fencing 5 years
Boxing off and on a few years (as a teen)
Kung Fu 3 years (as a teen)
Judo 2 1/2 years (after a break from MA of a few years)
a little bit of kickboxing, army combatives and Hapkido

Now heres my issue Im not sure I have a strong base. Im a better grappler than striker. When I think, I think in a Fencing mentality. I can flow from Boxing to Judo and Wrestling. I cant seem to integrate my Kung Fu as well. It seems my fottwork and techniques becomes more of a switch then a flow.

Now heres my question, everyone is preaching cross training. But should a primary concern be not just cross training, but what you should throw in the mix? Im starting to see more and more that some styles just dont mix as well as others. DO YOU AGREE OR DISAGREE, please explain?

This could also be my own incompetentcies or something lacking in my training? Please no MMA advise this isnt about MMA competitions.
Ironically I think boxing might be my base. Out of everything I have trained in boxing is what Im worst at, but it is the most practical and the most encountered. I always seem to start with boxing and then go other techniques. Despite this I seem to think fencing even when on the ground. When I say think fencing, effeciency, set up, try to think 2 – 3 moves ahead, keep cool. So maybe fencing is my base?
Also because of fencing i fight southpaw
A lot of these breaks and switches has to do with moving as akid, for college, and in the military. Its hard when you start one art and then your in a place where its not offered. You can either stop or train something else. Im currently working on my 3rd Brown in Judo and plan on staying in judo for a good many years to come.

Now the Hapkido I work out with a TKD teacher who has a Hap BB so he uses me for his uke and teaches me some basic techniques.
The kickboxing was part of my Kung Fu 3 hours Kung Fu and then 1 hour Kickboxing a week, we also did Tai Chi,
