If my toenails are breaking off whenever I start running outside again, should I get new running shoes?

When I first ran track I had my first experience with losing a toenail, as disgusting as that sounds. It was only the pinky toe though- no harm done. It’s happened to my pinky toes about 2 more times. I just started running again a few days ago but it was my middle toe that has had to be pulled off. Should I get new shoes? Or is it just my anemia?

What are good running shoes? And are they worth getting for only a few weeks?

I have to take summer PE. I needed new shoes, and my dad agreed to get me some. The only problem is, I don’t want my parents to spend lots of money on something I only plan to use for a few weeks. I do work out about 2-4 times a week, but I was planning on wearing my worn out shoes. Should I just spend the money and use the running shoes for my workouts or is it just a waste of money to buy something I will only use for a few weeks?

What is the difference between a cross-training shoe and a running shoe?

I just bought the Womens NIKE without limits and it is a training shoe. I already have a running shoe (from Saucony) that I use. My new shoes, however, look a lot like running shoes. What’s the difference?

What are some good types of running shoes?

I recently had to get rid of my old pair of running shoes, but the new pair is even worse. I can’t run in them without the back of my heel (Achille’s Tendon, I think) getting cut to pieces and bleeding. What’s the point of working out if you’re just going to bleed to death?

Can anyone recommend a brand or style to prevent this from happening? The irony of all of this is that those new shoes were Dr. Scholl’s brand, but the last thing they are is good for my feet.

Thanks!
