How can I have more energy when running?

I’m currently running track and when I’m running I’ve discovered that I run out of energy sooner than I should be. It also becomes hard for me to breathe when running. What can I do to have more energy when running. Is there a certain way I should be breathing? Are there certain types of foods I should be eating to have more energy? Thanks in advance.

How should your running shoes fit for track runners?

My 13 year old daughter started running track this season and complained about ankle pains. I read somewhere that it’s important to have good running shoes. And make sure they are laced up snug.
My daughter is one to slip on and off her running shoes while they’re laced up. Should I be concerned that she does that and should I reinforce the importance of lacing and unlacing when putting on and taking off her shoes? She’s got both running shoes and spikes.

Is cross country good training for track?

I have been running track for two years now, and I am a sprinter/jumper. I was thinking of joining the school’s cross country team in order to run when there is no track (fall). Would this be good training for track? Or should I just do my own workouts to prepare (I run winter, spring, and summer track).
