I am doing a mini triathlon and have a bike question?

I only own a mountain bike, would it be better if I just tighten my shocks and put some street tires on it, or borrow a old 70s street bike for the race. What would you think will work better for that purpose? thanks

I own a Mountain Bike and would rather not have to spend money on a new road bike, just wanted to see from people that have done triathlon if you see people riding these kinds of bikes and if there’s any problems using them? What's my best option to improve my last place speed on a hybrid with regular pedals in a triathlon race?

Should I get clipless pedals, race tires, make other adjustments, or just practice more short of buying a road bike? I was the only hybrid in the race. I finished a hilly(for me)12 mile race in 55 minutes. Most everyone was at least ten minutes faster. I wasn’t planning on buying a road bike until next year. What one step will make the most difference in speed?

Can I convert my Moutain Bike to a road bike for a triathlon?

I enjoy doing sprint triathlons, but only do two a year. I like to Mountain Bike more than I cycle. Instead of buying a road bike, can you give me some tips (hopefully cheap tips) on how to convert my biek for the road. I just put road tires on my bike and feel a huge difference.
