Is running good for weight loss in your legs?

I’d like to either lose weight in my legs, or at least tone them nicely. Even if they remain about the same size but turn to muscle I’m fine with that.
Would running with a Wii fit work to achieve this if I only run for 10-20 minutes a day? I have a disability which prevents me from doing more than that unfortunately. Will this be sufficient enough to achieve weight loss in my legs or tone them, or is there nothing I can do since I can’t push myself more than that?
Thanks!
What type of plan should I use to gain endurance for running?

I am 17 and I am very out of shape. I can barley run for three minutes straight with out my lungs feeling like they are on fire. How do I gain endurance? Should I start out by running for as long as I can than increase the time by like 3 minutes each week? How long do you have to run and how many days do you have to run to get benefits from it like weight loss and feeling more healthy?
Do I need running shoes or cross training shoes?

Starting a gym and i’m not sure which kind of shoe to buy. What would give me the most support and balance for just basic gym use and weight-loss? I don’t plan on focusing on running, like i won’t be jogging every morning, but i will include running in my routine.
Key to success – Singapore Personal Trainer talks

In my work as a weight loss boot camp owner, personal trainer and strength coach in Singapore, I enjoy meeting people who give themselves over to changing their lifestyles and bodies. They reach their goals. All these people have the same two qualities: a desire to be excellent and to fearlessly try new things.
One of my friends once asked me, "Hey Jonathan, I know you were a "FFB" (Former Fat Boy… it's true), when did you decide that you didn't want that anymore? And how did you? (which is the ONLY way to get the job done… but you all know that right…)"
You know what? I really didn't know exactly "when" I decided to get out of fat-boy-land, but when I think about it, it is that change was the result of those two qualities that my most committed fitness bootcamp and personal training clients have. These two qualities make it possible to succeed in fat loss, weight loss, muscle gain, fitness, anything.
Firstly, I had the desire to excel and to be excellent in whatever I do. Yes, the results were (naturally) not always excellent but the desire to excel was always there. I wanted to excel in sports. I played everything. Basketball, softball, rugby, football. All competitively.
I saw there was much I wanted to do while competing that was just impossible due to my less-than-ideal fat levels! This is quite a revelation at 15 years old. So the self-motivated training started then. Sure I made lots of mistakes, had no strength coaching or mentoring, and had foolish injuries along the way but the desire for excellence helped my push through all these difficulties. So I spent time and money (I haven't really counted but it's in the tens of thousands of dollars by now) educating myself to be the best possible personal trainer in Singapore and I always compare myself with standards set by the best in the world.
Next, it is the burning desire to try the new, without fear. This is missing in a lot of the people I have met. There is this book I read about living a 10/10 life. Too often, we live a less than optimal (in terms of dreams, contentment and destiny) life. Let's say we are a 6/10. Getting along ok but not completely fulfilled "self-actualization" or whatever psychologists call it.
The problem is that most of us are not willing to take a temporary dip in the life rating scale, in exchange for a future 10/10. Suppose I was earning enough to get by, pay my mortgage etc but am not happy at my current job. That's a 5/10 or 6/10. Am I willing to drop to a 3/10 – a time of financial insecurity to chase the vocation that thrills me? Foolish, foolhardy risks are not to be taken, but yet, there are risks that we cant afford to NOT take!
As a personal trainer and weight loss boot camp instructor in Singapore, I take this attitude into training and nutrition with all my clients. I have tried it all. High carb, low carb, Atkins, metabolic type diet, calorie counting, blood type diet, high volume training, low volume training, sprinting, strongman, power lifting, Olympic lifting, field events and a lot of other stuff as well. Did I win or succeed all the time? Certainly not! But the varied activity puts us in a position to learn regardless of the result. Like the great basketball coach John Wooden said:
"If you're not making mistakes, then you're not doing anything. I'm positive that a doer makes mistakes."
The guy won the highest number of championships in the history of college basketball. I humbly agree with him.
Once I had those two characteristics (the desire to excel and the willingness to fearlessly try new things), its just a matter of documenting the results and keep doing what works. That's easy! It is the attitude that needs a bit of time to work on.
If you are stuck in a fitness pit (or any pit), how badly do you want to get out? It's in your hands. It doesn't matter if you make mistakes, as long as you document them (or at least REMEMBER THEM!) so that you can try something new and better. It has given my fitness boot camp and personal training clients in Singapore great success. It'll work for anyone!

Treadmill_Trainer Volume 2 |
I just got in from an accidental run that turned out to be my fastest, happiest run to date!
Sitting at my computer enjoying some raw chocolate pudding and a fabulous green juice, I simply had too much energy to sit still. So I got out my ipod, downloaded Treadmill_Trainer Volume 2 onto it, and set out for the boardwalk.
This is the first time I’ve finished the entire workout, and I seriously had a smile on my face the whole time! There are 2 spots where Yuri says you can stop, and I’ve taken him up on his offer times before, but I was in the zone and feeling like I could just kill the workout. And I did! I even ran home after I finished stretching!
I love his workouts and the way he talks to you as if he’s right there beside you. I even talk back to him and answer all of his questions out loud! For example, when the workout was over he asks: ”How are you feeling right now?” Amazing! “How did you feel 10 minutes ago?” Amazing! “How did you feel when you woke up this morning?” Umm…not this good…no. (I had to talk myself into going to yoga this morning) Then I patted myself on the back (because he told me to) and congratulated myself on running 10 k in approximately 45 minutes…and I’m not a runner! For comparison, I ran a 5k in April and my time was 29:41…and I was dead tired and wanted to throw up…a lot. What a difference!
I just recently started running, and I’ve only run two 10 k’s before tonight. I ususally just do 5 k’s because I get bored of running after 30 minutes. But since I signed up for a half marathon 5 months ago, and put off training until pretty much right now, it’s time to get serious…hence the Treadmill_Trainer series of workouts being downloaded to my ipod. After tonight I feel certain I am going to have a competitive time in the run, and I really can’t wait to do it! I think I’m going to do intervals during the run. I’ll just listen to the Treadmill_Trainers even then. That would be funny. The motivation he gives during the workouts is priceless. I’m seriously going to listen to the training audio when I run the race.

I should definitely add: I highly recommend Volumes 2 and 3 plus all the hill running stuff, but only get Volume 1 if you are JUST starting out. It involves walking and running, perfect for beginners, but you may find it too slow if you have any experience. That being said, Volume 2 will kick your a** no matter what level of runner you are! If you disagree and think you’re some big time runner, then you HAVE to try it. It’ll step up your game so much and you’ll be thankful for the challenge!!!
Happy running ![]()

Introducing the “100 Ways to Lose 10 Pounds” eBook …
Believe it or not, there was a time not that long ago, when the thought of losing weight didn’t even occur to most people in our society. Back then, people ate what mom cooked for dinner and they went to work. The difference between that society and today’s society is that work back then was not at a desk with a computer screen on it, but on your feet in the fields or on a warehouse floor.
Back then people worked physically because that was the only way to work, in fact, that’s why it was called work! It was during this time that people could eat anything they wanted because they were burning much more calories than what they consumed.
But, like all good things, that too has passed and the technology of today’s world has left us in one condition – an overweight one. Our lifestyles have changed drastically and our comfort level has increased dramatically. As they say, every rose has its thorn and for our society our desire to have comfortable lives and to work less has begun to show around the waistline.
The bad thing about all of this is the more weight you gain, the more dangerous it becomes. Extra weight spells illness, whether it is in the form of diabetes or a heart condition, it’s bound to show up if you don’t do something about it. This ebook is your guide to losing that first 10 pounds that we all struggle with.
