I’m trying to get in shape for soccer season this coming fall for college and i also wanted to improve my speed. However since it’s summer and the heat is too extreme, i was wondering if running on a treadmill will have the same effect as running on regular turf such as grass?
Also, how long should i run on the treadmill with the weights in order to help build speed faster?
Any help, tips or hints will be greatly appreciated!

I’m 17, 185 pounds, and 5’7". I drink an overwhelming amount of water (at LEAST 5 bottles of 16-20oz per day). I’m starting Summer Training for Cross Country tomorrow and I want to know how much weight I can lose by the end of the summer (Mid-August).
I’m actually 5’8", sorry for the typo. Oh, and I occasionally lift weights, if that matters.

I mainly lift weights (3-4 days/wk) and run occasionally, so would cross-trainers work best for me rather than, for example, running shoes? I’m asking b/c I’ve had my eye on a nice pair of Nike cross-trainers. Thanks in advance!
