this is unclinically sound. pronation can only be determined by watching barefoot walking or running. and the three categories are neutral, stability, and motion control. arch length doesn’t exactly apply to anything. Rolling in is a better choice of words but try “excessive medial motion.” somebody needs to read the journal of biomechanics

I just bought a pair of jogging shows of New Balance company. They’re the best jogging shoes I’ve ever have! My doctor recommended New Balance and they’re awesome! I did not get sore feet the next day or any pain at all! Plus, I can run easily and with comfort.

Pronation is the body’s natural way of absorbing impact, the running shoe disables this ability of ours.

    realy thank u

    That was helpful. :D

  15. ElisBamz says:

Pronation refers to the inward roll of the foot during normal motion and occurs as the outer edge of the heel strikes the ground and the foot rolls inward and flattens out.
Supination is the opposite of pronation and refers to the outward roll of the foot during normal motion.
    Not over and under pronation…

  16. rockinsurfkid says:

yeah runners world calls supination under pronation

I work as a Running specialist and this is a great video to understand how shoes work, not choosing the best one for yourself. Very informative, but you have to know how you run in order to pick the right shoe for yourself. Also, look at the design of the shoe. There are certain areas of the shoes that tear up first, you want to look for the one that is reinforced in those areas.

  19. AhmedM85 says:

flipping over the shoe that you wear and seeing where your sole has worn off the most is also a good indicator.

so could these shoes hold out if a person could run 4.17 mills per. minet?and with one would that be?

  21. FrankBeltre says:

what about the fact that ince 1970′s feet injuries had doble…barefoot running seems more effective, running shoes kill the sensitivity of your feet making themhit harder the ground….every time i hit the ground with my 6 feet 180 pounds….i transmit 250 poundss of force to the ground that bouce back to my lower back and knees…in barefeet…..is a lot more gentle.

  22. AhmedM85 says:

Thats true, barefoot running is definitely alot better for runners, but I still feel that some people cannot do barefoot at all because their foot strength has diminished significantly to the point that they need shoes to walk/run in.

  23. ViperRKOed says:

i wanna ask if im normal pronation n bought a over pronated shoe… will it hurt me? pls reply thank you

  24. Runaholism says:

I would visit your local running specialty store and have them figure it out since they are able to see how you run and what shoes will fit you.

  25. beachwalker0202 says:

First off, your question is almost impossible to answer without knowing your weight. But, in MOST cases, generally a “,,,normal” pronated foot (that being 13.5 degrees) will have a higher arch, and a higher arched foot would be better off in a shoe with a little more cushioning than a motion-control shoe would provide. I worked in one of the Top-5 rated RW Magazine running stores for 20+ years, so I do know a little about shoes and biomechanics.
