It took supream confidence and courage to force the pace in an Olympic Marathon.

Other's especially Paula Radcliffe paid a very high price for going off much too fast in the heat of Athens

She was easily the fastest woman in that race but had to take the lead and paid the consequences

World Titles can always be broken but you will always be Olympic Champion for that games

Joan Bennoits gamble paid off Paula should have held back and run for glory from 24miles not from the first mile

Sure you see 200lbs people turn in 3.30 times but can you imagine what time they would be able to turn in they were the correct weight. This two pounds for every inch rule is usaully a rule for men. Women should be a little lighter than this formula

You do not have to skinny to run a marathon but it sure helps. Look at all the elite runners not an ounce of fat on them. The top USA runner Ryan Hall 5' 10" and 130lbs. The general rule of thumb is the two pounds for every inch tall rule. In other words a person who is a male that is 5' 10" should weigh approx 140lbs give or take only three or four pounds. It only makes sense when you go 26.2 miles any extra weight just slows you down.

19 is not old for the marathon. Late 20s and 30s is where you peak with the marathon.
