Okay, Wikipedia backs you up. They have a running culture like some have a warrior culture, which isn’t beyond belief.

Just curious, but what was he doing to his shoes in the beginning of the video?

  5. scskowron says:

Anton’s got great running form. Probably because he runs barefoot so much!

  6. echoplex89 says:

those shoes in the beginning are called the slingshots, they’re made by la sportiva.

he used to be sponsored by them, now he’s sponsored by new balance.

i think hes customizing his shoes so they replicate barefoot running

  11. jodanvids says:

I think that he was putting spikes in his shoes. They give you better traction when you’re running.

    Anton is great!!!

  15. brodybear83 says:

He was cutting the heels down to even them up with the front part of the sole of the shoe. This helps to keep you from heel striking. Unfortunately most modern running shoes come with this raised heel which can necessitate this modification for a lot of people.

  21. JazzmanJibilla says:

Oh yeah I should but I haven’t run a marathon since ’82, or at all since ’84. Let’s not talk about the weight I’ve added in those years either. I was a lazy runner at best, and manage to get my kick in the pool these days.

we actually evolved to be distance runners, not sprinters. Distance running is how we hunted. Since we were not fast enough to chase prey and catch them within a mile, we slowly chased them for many miles until they had no energy left. Deer for example are sprinters. Early hunters would slowly chase after them for miles until the deer could run no further, since deer are sprinters, not distance runners. Running long distances after prey helped early humans exhaust their prey.

  23. tomhetistgut3 says:

This was the best way to hunt before distance weapons were created since most animals are too fast for humans to catch within a short distance. So to sum it all up, humans are actually evolved for distance running because the only way to catch prey was to exhaust it by slowly chasing for miles on end. This is not to say that we didnt evolve to be sprinters though. I’m just saying that distance running has played a strong role in the evolution of human

I must not know how to run right because I’m a fairly in-shape guy who isn’t afraid of a long bike ride or a long swim at all, but…whenever I run I find myself fucking HATING IT.
