Here’s a clip of Olympic Gold Medallist from the Sydney 2000 Men’s 4 x 200m f/s team, Bill Kirby, demonstrating excellent form in the water. Watch it before you go for your next swim and try to imagine yourself like Bill, swimming smooth! Bill’s swimming technique (freestyle) is one of the best in the world. Great visualization for triathlon swimming. www.swimsmooth.com

Bill is certainly from the “FQ camp”(so to speak). What is critically important to notice with Bill’s stroke however(akin with the likes of his team-mates, Thorpe and Hackett),is that whilst he appears to be “catching-up” as you call it,he never actually pauses within his stroke and is always smoothly flowing from one stroke to the next.

Hi, I’m trying to “push my buoy” to get the downhill sensation but not really getting anything…

I’m keeping in FQS and rolling my torso, but on the side I don’t breath to, I am having trouble stopping my head from turning with my body.

any suggestions on strokes per length in a 33 yrd pool if I’m training for open water?

    Cheers
    Matt

I breathe every 3 strokes too. I like the way thig guy swims. I just noticed his right goes very high during recovery…is there a reason for that?

  18. dmdml says:

His two arms are not very symmetric, right arm higher?
